</infobox>Stairsteps Lake is a medium sized lake with several stepped waterfalls found near the entrance to the Hushed River Valley.
Overview
A Deer Carcass may be found in a small cove to the north-east. Many waterfalls can be found on the southern end of the lake. Both wolves and deer may be found wandering around on the ice of the frozen lake.
Rose hips may spawn near the southwest and northeast corners of the lake, along with a Hidden Cache near the southwest corner. Another cache may appear a short walk northwest of the lake. Cattails and Old Man's Beard Lichen can also be found in the northeast corner.
The lake is NOT suitable for Ice Fishing holes.
Nearby Cave
While the lake doesn't offer any shelter, there is a cave a short walk to the northeast, which can make for a short-term decent campsite for weary travelers who have recently entered the region and/or want to explore the southwestern part of the map. This cave offers a warmth bonus, like most of the small caves scattered throughout Great Bear Island. A frozen corpse often spawns in the cave, and the cave is a possible spawn point for the Expedition Parka and Hunting Rifle.
Although the cave makes for a good short-term base, it is not ideal for the longer term due to the presence of nearby wolves. While the density of wolves in the local area isn't as high as in some locations (i.e. around Angler's Den), the rolling terrain and dense forest around the cave makes them difficult to spot at a distance. Additionally, the wolves will enter the cave if the player is carrying smelly items.
