</infobox>Rüdiger's Machine is the unofficial name given to a location found inside the Langston Mine in the Zone of Contamination. The location can only be accessed by completing the Buried Echoes Tale. It is the source of Glimmer Fog that plagues the Far Territory,
Overview
A mountainside entrance near the 6th floor of the Concentrator is initially locked when playing in Survival Mode, but can be opened as part of Buried Echoes. The Mine Gate Key to the mountain entrance can be found deeper in Level 3 after progressing through the Tale, and then passing through the mountain. When reaching the room with the device, the survivor will attempt to touch it but pass out, only to reawaken to find it powered at midnight during an Aurora.
A nearby control room contains several collectibles for the Tale, as well as the Foreman's Tool Belt. The Machine does not have any amenities inside, such as Beds, Work Benches, or Fireplaces.
Trivia
- The Machine is what caused the mental deterioration of The Foreman, the mine workers, The Security Chief, and Dr. Rüdiger, among others.
- It is also likely what drove Sutherland to living onto a boat full-time.
- It is also likely responsible for the mysterious illness in Perseverance Mills which Astrid is trying to cure.
