</infobox> Ranger Stew is a food item in The Long Dark, it is learned from a unique Recipe Card and is made with a Cooking Pot.
Overview
In order to craft this item, the player must visit the Foreman's Retreat in Ash Canyon. It can only be created once its Recipe Card is found. It can spawn in various locations within the first room of the cabin near the kitchenette.
Ranger Stew produces a Scent which attracts predators, and may be dropped as a decoy.
Ranger Stew is much lighter than the ingredients that go into making it, with the meat alone being over double the weight of the finished stew. As carrots and potatoes are generally rather easy to find, this makes it one of the easier foods to cook in the game. Its increased fatigue, together with instant condition recovery and improved rest, make it best suited for consumption at the end of a long day.
