I would also recommend as a general tip to do this if you kill a moose or a bear as in my current run i shot a moose and a bear right next to each other leading to me having to literally race against the clock to get all the meat. If you kill any big game and have to deal with ridiculous amounts of meat, it will decay faster when its on a corpse than if its on the ground, so do whatever you can to harvest it as fast as possible, so you can actually drop it and then ferry it back to base.
