Agreed... The only fuel worth harvesting is Cedar, since it's way lighter than Fir or Sticks (120 min/kg against 90 min/kg and 50 min/kg respectively), and, like Sticks, have a boost of 15% in success chance of lighting the fire. Be careful, though, collecting sticks from Branches is total waste of time (it takes 10 minutes to collect 2 Sticks) and calories.
