I think u miss something, that u see in that video is Survival mode, and it´s as long as before, on the other hand, "just until the dam" is the story mode (maybe would be a good idea if u take a look to the "road plan" https://www.thelongdark.com/news/dev-diary-august-2018/).

But if you can´t see the difference I think u dind´t play enought ;)
