How would anyone know this?  There's nothing to warn you that this could happen.  This is a game breaking situation.  I had to restart, because of it.  It's stupid.  At least tell me the game is over, as soon as Day 4 starts, since all the meat was gone.  Instead, the game wastes like an hour of my time, as I frantically looked around for meat that was never going to arrive.  That's not what I call fun.  That's cheap.
