Sticks are essential for long term survival. Unlike harvesting firewood, gathering sticks have no calorie burn or time clock associated with them since one simply picks them up like any other object in the game. Using sticks as much as possible will prolong the life of your hatchets for several additional months if not longer by reducing the need to harvest wood which takes a 3 percent hit on a hatchet's condition.
