If you're talking about Timberwolves they may not be scared by the distress pistol (I haven't tested this yet) but i have seen a simillar thing happen when hunting a bear. I took a shot then switched to the distress pistol as it was charging and it just ignored it. It may be due to the new Update breaking some stuff as it sometimes happens, and maybe with the old saves. (i'm just speculating.. i'm not a proggramer nor am i a hardcore gamer)
