I love the aurora and it's effects. in case you don't know It's Probabaly based on the carrington event, aka the solar storm of 1859 and it's quite scientificly accurate. durring the event along with an aurora so strong it could be seen as close to the equator as the caribian (the equator is where the earths magnetic field is the strongest, the poles are the weekest) telegraph operators got shocked, and a few reported being able to send and recive messeges despite disconecting the machines. (after it ended the machines didn't work)
Even the effects on wildlife have grounding in science. Many forms of fauna depend on the earths magnetic fields for navagation and even knowing the time of year. a coronial mass ejection powerful enough to knock out (and subsequently power) electronic's would cause them much pain and confusion (more aggressive behavior and ignoring normal primal fears)
