Standardized as an orange rectangle ( see File:Map highlight.png). A potential problem with a crosshair is that it obscures part of the map underneath it, another is that its not a good way to represent areas (see the Coastal Townsite vs Quonset Garage locations as examples.

I've completed the location maps for Coastal Highway as a test run - I'd definitely welcome any additional feedback before I move on to other areas!
