The location is found in the center of the region, and can only be reached via a [[Rope Climbing]], which always requires a [[Mountaineering Rope]] (often found in one of the region's caves). The Basin is one way to reach [[Bleak Inlet]], and the only way to reach Bleak Inlet's upper mountain area.

== Overview ==
The basin is only reachable by climbing down the Rope Climbing section. At the bottom of the Rope Climb is a crashed [[Train Shuttle]], often containing a [[Research Book]], a [[Distress Pistol]] box with [[Flare Shell|Flare Shells]], and other supplies.

Further down stream, a [[Warm Cave]] is found near a small frozen pond that always contains a [[Bed]] made of conifer leaves. a ravaged [[Deer Carcass]] is always found near the cave entrance. A [[Rabbit]] grove and several [[Cat Tail]] plants are located around the cave. [[Stick|Sticks]] and [[Cedar Limb|Cedar Limbs]] can be used for fuel.

Great care must be taken to never climb down the slopes of the basin walls to reach the bottom ([[Mountain Goating]]), as the area is filled with invisible kill barriers leftover from a time when the basin never had a transition to Bleak Inlet, in order to keep players from being stuck and slowly dying inside the basin. This should be considered an [[Environmental Hazard]]. ALWAYS use the Climbing Rope section to go down.
