==Overview==

The schoolhouse itself is destroyed, and a sign at the front door reads ''Milton School''. On one side of the schoolhouse, there is a small shed containing [[Coal|coal]] or other fuel. On the other, there are swings and other broken playground equipment. Shoes, glasses, and other personal belongings are scattered around the building's charred remains, as well as a frozen corpse nearby.

== Wintermute ==
The schoolhouse is the site of a terrible tragedy. During the [[First Flare]], a [[Crashed Prison Transport Bus|prison bus]] headed to [[Blackrock Prison|Blackrock Federal Penitentiary]] crashed into a tunnel outside Milton, freeing several surviving inmates, including [[Hobbs]], who is found by [[Will Mackenzie|Mackenzie]] in [[Episode 1: Do Not Go Gentle|Episode 1]] of [[Story|Wintermute]]. According to Hobbs, he and the other convicts locked many remaining Milton residents inside the schoolhouse. Initially, Hobbs takes credit for killing the residents in the subsequent fire, saying, "We sure warmed them up!". However, Hobbs later states, "We put them all in the old schoolhouse so we could keep an eye on them. And then something happened to the lights... the power... it was like sparks everywhere and then fire." This is consistent with the effects of the [[Aurora]], which sometimes causes electrical fires, as evidenced in trailers showing burning powerlines and various burned buildings throughout Great Bear that were never reached by the convicts. Thus, it can be understood that while Hobbs and his accomplices did not light the electrical fire, they were responsible for their deaths by initially locking them in and later preventing Astrid from coming to their aid.
