The '''Hacksaw''' is a tool with several critical functions, including harvesting saplings and furniture made of a variety of materials. [[Scrap Metal]] is required to repair it.

==Uses==
The hacksaw is the only tool able to break down [[Metal Shelf|Metal Shelves]] and other metal items to obtain scrap metal. It is required to open [[Cargo Container]]s on [[Timberwolf Mountain]], and it can be used instead of a [[Hatchet]] to cut small tree limbs (a hatchet must be used for the largest limbs) and saplings. It also can be used to harvest carcasses for meat, hides, or guts, although it may be more efficient to use bare hands or other tools. It cannot be used as a weapon in struggles.

One scrap metal and a set of [[Simple Tools]] or [[Quality Tools]] are needed to repair the hacksaw. Although it requires a tool set for repair (which are reasonably common), the hacksaw is a reliable way to harvest firewood without relying on hatchets and [[Whetstone]]s, which can be in limited supply, or an [[Improvised Hatchet]], which requires [[Forge]] to craft.

Uses of Hacksaw:
* Breaking down metal furniture (for [[Scrap Metal]] and [[Cloth]]).
* Open locked [[Cargo Container|Cargo Containers]] in [[Timberwolf Mountain]] region. (N.B. a hacksaw breaking while opening one of these can make it '''permanently inaccessible'''. See [[Repair]] section.)
* [[Carcass Harvesting|Harvest frozen carcasses]] (Hacksaws have the same meat harvesting speeds as [[Hatchet|Hatchets]], which means they are better used on frozen meat, but have worse speeds for hide or gut harvesting).
* Harvest downed tree limbs (for [[Fir Firewood]] or [[Cedar Firewood]]).
Unlike most other tools, Hacksaws cannot be selected as a tool for self-defense during a Wolf Struggle. For more information on Struggles, see: [[Struggle|Wildlife Struggles]].

== Repair==
Hacksaws are repairable with [[Simple Tools|Tools]] using [[Scrap Metal]]. Also the [[Milling Machine]] in [[Bleak Inlet]] or [[Blackrock]] may repair a non-ruined hacksaw to 100% condition for one [[Scrap Metal]], during an active [[Aurora]]. N.B. The hacksaw has a breaking threshold at 25% condition, usage below this number risks ruining it for good.
