'''Deer Clearing''' can be found north of [[Echo Ravine]] across the log bridge and up a rope climb; alternatively, once visited it can be returned to by deploying a [[Mountaineering Rope]] from above the [[Engine]] or from [[Eric's Falls]].
==Overview==
Two caves are present at Deer Clearing: the [[Ash Canyon]] transition cave is in the south, which is a winding cavern with many dead ends. This cave can provide shelter from the elements. The other cave is shallow and may yield containers with loot, including a [[Hatchet]], [[Dog Food]], and [[Cedar Firewood]].

Two [[Green Birch Sapling|Green Birch Saplings]] as well as some [[Rose Hip|Rose Hips]] can be found in front of these caves. True to its name, 0-8 [[Deer]] may be found in the area. A possible [[bear]] can occasionally patrol a nearby area. [[Wolf|Wolves]] that patrol nearby may come near the area to hunt Deer, providing free meat opportunities. Wood limbs and [[Stick|sticks]] are abundant.

Opposite of the caves there are two plane [[Cargo Container]]s.

Container 1: in the open ground.

* Upper door: [[Whetstone|whetstones]], [[Firearm Cleaning Kit|firearm cleaning kits]] and [[Simple Tools|simple tools]]
** In Interloper contains: 1-2 [[Cloth ]]<nowiki/>and 1-3 [[Scrap Metal]]
* Lower door: [[Cured Leather]] and [[Cured Rabbit Pelt|cured rabbit pelts]]
** In Interloper contains: 2-3 [[Tomato Soup]]

Container 2: atop a rocky hill. This container does not spawn on Interloper mode.

* Upper door: [[Sports Socks|sports socks]], [[wool socks]], [[jeans]], [[Leather Shoes]] and [[Cargo Pants]]

* Lower door: [[Combat Boots]], [[Work Boots|work boots]], [[Running Shoes|running shoes]], [[Trail Boots]], [[Wool Socks|wool socks]] and [[Sports Socks|sports socks]]

If the player places a [[Mountaineering rope|climbing rope]] at the spot on the level of Eric's Falls, the player can descend to the [[Engine]] area. Placing a rope here will significantly decrease the time needed to get from the [[Mountaineer's Hut]] to the [[Summit]], since the player will no longer have to walk all the way around through Deer Clearing.
