"Ruined" condition exists in a number of videogames. Few examples: DayZ, Escape From Tarkov, Fallout and many others. Note how almost all of these games falling into "survival" catergory. And now i shall explain to you what "ruined" means and why does it exists in "otherwise perfectly polished games". See, there is blood level, hunger, thirst, fatigue, infection, enemy presence, limited skills and condition of your gear for a reason in these "Survival" type videogames. So you do not relax too much and just leasure upon achieved results without a worry in the world. You need to gather food, supplies, ammunition yada yada, but you also have to look after the condition of your equipment, just as in real life. Try not maintaining your car at all. See how long it will roll until your engine breaks down completely and becomes "RUINED", i.e. FUBAR, which means messed up beyond any repair. I hope you starting to understand now why your shelter can not be turned into useful resources once your lazy attitude caused it to become "ruined" in the first place. it's ruined:
