It's like a Cliff Bar.  The "energy" isn't like in-game energy, but real-life energy.  Y'know, it's packed with protein, carbohydrates, fat, oils, vitamins and salt, so your body can digest it and turn it into the stuff it needs to keep on going.  Sadly, the ingredients don't include cocaine or amphetamines, so yeah, you still need to digest it :P
