<u>'''''FACT:'''''</u> Humans baiting hunted animals predates recorded history by tens of thousands of years. There is positively no abuse, ''zero abuse whatsoever,'' in the application of bait in this game in order to increase the chances of a successful hunt and bag big game animals.

<u>'''''FACT:'''''</u> In nature, there are even certain species of animal that use baits to lure prey animals to their death, often straight into the gapping maw of the predator itself! (ie: the Angler Fish, which you can read all about here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglerfish)

Why is the real-world use of bait to lure animals into more vulnerable situations, making them easier targets to take, considered an abuse of game mechanics by some people? If any of you wish to promote this belief, first contend with the two facts above and prove why such primitive yet effective methods should be excluded from this game!

Clearly, these beliefs are held by pure blooded city-folk; people who have not spent any time away from the creature comforts of their homes to explore the wilderness beyond; people who have not hunted a day in their lives nor practiced wildlife photography of any kind, but still see fit to preach from their armchairs as though they were experts on the subject!

This game is about survival. It is not about artificial "challenge", which they would have imposed arbitrarily in an effort to lock out perfectly natural, "easier" methods of accomplishing the goal of actually surviving --- all because it doesn't satisify some people's need for adrenaline.

It's because of people like this that we still, inexlipicably, are unable to craft one of mankind's most primitive yet versitile surival instruments: the humble spear! But we can craft bows and arrows, knives, and chopping/bludgeoning instruments... it's just mindblowing!

So, people say that they want some sort of an adrenaline rush from playing this game? You might playing the wrong game, if that's the case! Might I suggest that Call of Duty may be more to your speed and liking?

I got food poisoning once from a banged up can of pork'n'beans during my first week of survival on one play through not long ago. The point is that ''it can happen,'' even if and although the chances are much lower than eating, for example, spoiled meat.

I was still pretty new to the game at the time and was shacked up in the Forestry Lookout (not smart as it turns out, btw). The combination of poor access to resources, being sick, and the FL being constantly near or below freezing, in addition to my bad misfortune of also having a blizzard roll through the next day meant that my severely depleted condition lead to my death when I was finally forced to venture out in search of food, fuel, and a better place to shelter.

The moral of the story is this: eating processed or even "preserved" foods that have aged past a certain point should only be undertaken as an option of last resort. That is, eat it if you're starving and have absolutely no other choice; it may save your life, or it may speed your untimely death; there's no sense in needlessly gambling your life on it (or, for that matter, your supply of antibiotics).

---------------

TL;DR --- If you're eating spoiled food while you have ample supplies of safe foods to eat, you're either doing it wrong or playing on the lowest possible difficulty.
