Not a hunting weapon? I took down 4 deer with it, and one-shot one of them. It typically takes 2-4 shots per deer, but it is a viable hunting weapon. I was only lvl 2 as well. You could destroy bears and moose at lvl 5 XD

One great strategy if you don’t have adequate protection (i.e a fallen tree, rock ledge, etc.), is to crouch with your weapon (I recommend rifle, but lvl 5 bow works well too) and shoot it from a decent distance. I killed one with 3 rifle shots at lvl 1.
