Spray Paint should spawn in locations, even if you've been there. (Similarly to how Car Batteries and Revolver Rounds would spawn in even previously explored locations, once they were added in their initial patches).

For example, I had previously looted/explored/mapped the enter-able rail car in Mystery Lake, near the "Train Loading Area" (with the sliding door) prior to the spray paint patch. After the patch, I returned to this location and found some paint inside the car in a cubby.

Remember that spawn locations are semi-randomized, so just because it was present in one playthrough does not mean it will be at the same place during another, but it is likely somewhere else in the region.

Yes, Prybars are extremely effective at ending Wolf Struggles quickly by scaring away a Wolf.
However the downfall of Prybars is they do not injure the Wolf very much, and cannot ever cause the wolf to start bleeding. Killing Wolves is beneficial, since they will not be back to interfere with you until they respawn. It is possible to kill a Wolf with a Prybar, but this requires getting into 6-7 Struggles with the same Wolf.

Car Batteries are really heavy (10kg each), but can be reduced to 10% that weight in 30 minutes with a Hacksaw. Also, because of the Misfire chance of crafted ammo (below Skill 5), it's a really bad idea to waste the rare/finite Gunpowder on subpar ammo.

Also keep in mind that crafting ammo requires a spent shell casing of the type you want (Rifle or Revolver), so make sure to save these. Don't forget that you need the Bleak Inlet access code and an active Aurora to open the Cannery door, and an active Aurora to use the crafting within.

The ''"As the Dead Sleep"'' Challenge is difficult but certainly do-able; it is set to Interloper Difficulty, has no time limit, the 5 Graves can be accessed in any order, and all healing except Stims is disabled. This incentivizes reaching all 5 Graves ASAP with minimal backtracking, but 'indefinite' survival is also possible as in a normal Interloper Survival mode save (albeit with finite healing).

'''Please note''': the ''"Secret Path"'' shortcut in Bleak Inlet (which allowed significant time saving by avoiding a Scrub Bush wall, and taking a more direct route to the BI exit cave) has been patched out.

Some tips are:
-light Campfires with a lit Torch whenever possible, to conserve Matches
-pull and extinguish Torches from Campfires until you have several high durability ones, and 'daisy chain' them together to transport fire and stay warmer while traveling
-harvest Rose Hips and Reishi whenever possible en-route for food/water, and drop them on the ground near a lit campfire, to warm them and consume when you're cold to get the "Warming Up" buff
-Stims tend to spawn in very specific places. Sleep can largely be avoided during the challenge by carrying minimal weight, traveling non-stop, performing as few time-passing actions as possible, and using Stims to climb essential Climbing Ropes.
-At least one Climbing Rope is necessary to reach the Grave in the Ravine, it can be found by looting but is most often taken from a pre-existing deployed rope (e.g. after climbing up from MT, and heading into ML).

'''As of April 2020, the current fastest route is:''' (BI) Fallen Lighthouse -> (BI) Residences -> (BI) Washed Trailers -> Cave -> (Muskeg) OSFH, (BR) Maintenance Yard (Grave #1) -> (Muskeg) Milton Transition -> (MT) Hermit's Cabin -> (MT) Trailer -> Cave -> (HRV) Many Falls Vista (Grave #2), (MT), (MT) Picnic Area Office, Cave, (ML) Trapper, (ML) Hydro Trailers, (Ravine) Ravine Basin (Grave #3), (ML) Carter, (Winding River), (PV) Signal Hill, (PV) Homestead, (PV) Preppers, (TWM) Crystal Lake (Grave #4), (PV) Mine, (CH), (Highway), (DP) Riken (Grave #5)

CH is very resource rich, has decent weather, and several excellent bases, but is wolf heavy and while the ice flats make predator avoidance easy, they also are devoid of any resources (even sticks). CH is also a very large zone, being approximately 50% larger than Mystery Lake (and about on-par with Pleasant Valley). Thus, a main downfall of CH is it's greatest strength: the high visibility, but resource-devoid ice.

Fishing is another important aspect to consider. Guts are incredibly easy to get from Rabbits, and fishing hooks are easy to make and very lightweight.

Beachcombing is also important to consider, since it grants access to otherwise limited resources, like Cured Leather, and Maple Saplings in the late game.

No. Jackrabbit Isle and Misanthrope's Isle are both accessible, but the unnamed island to the south-east, near the Crumbling Highway entrance is purely decorative and is impossible to reach through normal gameplay. Attempting to run up to it results in falling through the thin ice from time-out, or instant death, depending on where/how far one runs. Even if you make it here (via tool assistance), there is nothing there (items, even branches/sticks, etc), it is purely decorative or was perhaps a location cut late in development for the zone, or perhaps something planned for Episode 4's story mode.

Best way with the Bow is by killing them via ambush, which is far easier at Bow Skill level 5, where the player can shoot arrows from crouched rather than needing to stand to draw and fire. Narrow terrain such as choke points is also effective at funneling timberwolves into one's line of fire, and vehicles or structures are useful for ducking into to abort an attack if you get in trouble.

Probably the two best feats are ''Cold Fusion'' (which is equivalent to wearing another heavy coat at all times, for no Mending upkeep or Weight) which helps in the early game a ton, and late game as well (particularly on Stalker and Interloper, where the world gets noticeably colder over time, or allowing lighter clothes to be worn); and ''Efficient Machine'' which is better than '10% more calories from food', in that it reduces all food consumption, making the Early/Mid game easier, their transition smoother, but also the Endgame occur sooner and more powerfully, particularly with more time spent "hibernating" with less food, less starvation overall, and every food item/animal carcass giving far more range of coverage between meals.

''Expert Trapper'' is arguably the best 'ultra-late game' Trait, once all Rifle/Revolver Ammunition is spent (including crafted ammo) and all Arrows broken (minus the rare Saplings found Beachcombing). At this stage of the game, Calories can only be acquired by: Stoning Rabbits (limited availability, due to depletion), Snaring Rabbits (normally inefficient), Steering Deer/Rabbits into Wolves and scaring the Wolves from their Kill (slow, tedious, slightly risky), Killing Wolves in/after Struggles (extremely high risk), and Beachcombing (slow, limited, RNG heavy). Snaring Rabbits is normally a minor supplemental income at best, and a slow way to starve at worst, particularly on Stalker and Interloper, but double effectiveness for snares gives far, far more food and makes them viable calorie farming especially when accessing 3+ Groves in close proximity.

''Fire Master'''s no tinder is cute but the +firestarting chance is a solid early-mid game choice particularly for Interloper playthroughs, because of the shortage of Matches. However, because it is relatively easy to spam Campfires via Torch+Stick spam to skill up Firestarting, and because Magnifying Glasses are an item, this Feat gets dramatically worse the longer the game goes on.

''Free Runner'' and ''Snow Walker'' are a great combo together for more and cheaper Sprinting, however they strongly de-incentivize wearing bulky clothing (like Ski Boots, or most Crafted Animal Clothes), and even with both Feats, Sprinting regularly will lead to exhaustion and wasted calories.

''Blizzard Walker'' is nice when relevant, but not relevant often since it has no benefit when not walking directly into wind, which is normally easy to partially mitigate by moving diagonally into the wind. This would be useful for Challenges, Wintermute, and Speedruns to help mitigate Wind RNG, but it cannot be selected for those modes.

''Straight To The Heart'' is similarly terrible in Survival to ''Book Smarts'' in that it has extremely limited use: since Coffee, Energy Drinks, and Stims are a finite resource in the world. Of note, this Feat does not increase the Fatigue restoration effect from Coffee/Drinks or the Condition restored by Stims, merely makes their effects last 25% longer (reduced Fatigue consumption for Coffee/Drink, more time with infinite Fatigue with Stims). If this feat was "100%" more effective instead of "25%", it would still be a questionable pick, but would be more reasonably in-tune with other Traits, or would be a better pick if any of these 3 items were renewable somehow. However if Feats could be used during Challenges, Wintermute, and similar 'Speedruns', this would by far be the best for those settings, since Coffee is so valuable there, but alas they cannot and it cannot. Strangely, this Trait also does nothing for Herbal Tea.

''Book Smarts'' is miserable, horrible, putrid. Clearly the worst Feat in the game, by far. 10% more benefit means from a Skill Book which gives 10 skill points... Gives 11 instead. Books are quite rare, finite, of limited short-term benefit as eventually all skills will get maxed (except Rifle and Revolver on Interloper...), so this perk is not only extremely unimpactful but also gets dramatically worse the longer the playthrough goes on until becoming completely pointless.

This is one of the best safehouses, particularly in the very late game: it has a fireplace (2 slot) and crafting bench 'indoors', but does not give the indoors penalty to Cabin Fever for staying inside of it. 3 Rabbit Groves are nearby, one to the East, one South-East, and one due West. There is a Fishing Hut to the immediate north, and plenty of wood harvesting areas in every direction but north.

Deer are commonly found to the north-east end of the lake, and two bear can be found close by: one in the Wing area to the far east, and one to the north-west near the river.

Coal can also be found in both cave systems.

'''DO NOT GET GREEDY AND SPEND TOO LONG IN THE MIDDLE MINE'''. Getting trapped there when the aurora goes out '''a slow but certain death'''. I recommend leaving 1-2 Flashlights, a Lantern, and maybe a prepared Coffee or two near the mine's lower entrance, so as you explore Coastal Highway, you can enter the Lower Mine whenever an aurora begins and you're close enough to attempt visiting it. A flashlight can be found inside the elevator (lower level), and sometimes in the upper level at several locations.

This is one of the richest loot areas in the game, ''though probably not on Interloper since no guns spawn''. A Revolver and MRE in a backpack to the left, a corpse with a Rifle, Box of Bullets on the body, and 2 more bullets to the right. Also found a Can of Gunpowder inside a wheelbarrow.

Some lockers are locked so bring a crowbar if you want to access everything. There are several wooden crates which may contain supplies, and a metal shelf which can be scrapped with a hacksaw; all of which are very dangerous prospects to harvest since they take so much time.

No, these are two separate mechanics.

For crafted ammunition of non-"Perfect" (100%) quality there is a % chance each shot will "Misfire", e.g. a bullet crafted at level 4 Skill has an 80% chance to fire, and a 20% chance to misfire and consume the round with no effect (minus the casing, which can still be recovered). Found ammunition in the world is always "Perfect" (100%) and cannot misfire, only low level crafted ammo can misfire.

The Rifle/Revolver have a chance to "Jam" if the gun itself is used below 50% durability, this will require a manual reloading "R" to unjam the firearm, and the Rifle will expel a round on the ground (unspent, and can picked up and loaded/used).

If you're struggling with this, remember: the longer you take the more predator encounters you need to deal with, and the more food you need to consume to stay alive. The faster you complete it, the less total food/water must be gathered.

Drop items to complete the challenge on the floor. Ruined meat items seem to be deleted in containers, but on the floor they are fine (not sure if already ruined items will still give credit, but if they ruin on the floor it is fine).

If you're struggling with bullets, remember both entrances to Mine #3 have lots of them, usually.

If you're struggling with oil, remember you can scrap Lanterns and get the oil from them. Scrap the lanterns with the most oil, and use the lantern with the least inside of it to complete the "lantern" requirement. A slower but assured way is to cook fish you catch (or if you find a raw fish in a village refrigerator).

Most of the required items are extremely easy, e.g. the sticks and bandages, so try to collect some of them as you go about and do other errands, rather than wasting time on them directly.

If you are lucky/unlucky enough to find a revolver, or a rifle and more than the 10 bullets you need for it, feel free to hunt with them. I'd recommend a deer or bear if you're brave. Remember to aim for the head/neck to one-shit it with a rifle, or with a revolver to follow it as it bleeds out.

Just got 3 days 13 minutes on first attempt, but this is definitely do-able in under that, sub 2.5 days is probably possible with refinement. I got a blizzard for my last 12 hours, and had to keep sleeping sleep-warming burning condition each time I chopped mid-storm.

The real trick of this is in the RNG of items, RNG of weather (wind blowing in your face, and blizzards/fog getting lost), and RNG of predators. Rifle Bullets and Softwood/Hardwood Planks are the biggest offenders, which sometimes spawn in forests or beside fireplaces of homes (they take lots of time to chop). Frozen Corpses, Fishing Hut shelves, and 'hidden spots' beneath furniture etc can have ammo, but it is more often revolver ammo than rifle. I found my rifle in a Fishing Hut near Jackrabbit, and 3 bullets from different fishing huts. 5 bullets were in the Watchtower, and 2 more were in the #3 Upper Mine near there. Wolf patrols are also RNG dependent, since they can be in your way often.

Don't pick up anything unrelated to the challenge. No medicine, cloth, etc. Maybe spent the time equipping a really good clothing item if it's an upgrade, but if it's close to yours, don't bother, keep moving.

The 3 routes I took was: a spiral out from the Quonset hitting all nearby homes in the village and dropping off, ice huts and southern houses near Broken Highway and Misanthropes and Jackrabbit then more huts on way back, and lastly to the Townsite "Stop Sign" up to Trailer up a shortcut (not the default path) to Overlook then Mine #3 Upper then Trailer by the falls ending up by the mouth of the river that flows from the camping ground: I followed this river up to the camping ground stoning rabbits and collecting Cattails (tinder and food) and hit the Camping Ground house, the Trailer up by the railway line, and then the house in the woods south-east of the trailer on my way back.

Mine #3 Lower/Middle would probably be utilized in a "perfect run", since it contains so much ammunition and (I believe) a guaranteed revolver and rifle spawn. This could allow extremely fast bullet gathering and even gun hunting on the first night/second morning; but this would require an aurora on Night 1 which I'm not sure is possible.
